Ingredients:
- 4 slices of baguette: Choose fresh, crusty baguette for the best texture.
- 1/4 cup pesto: Store-bought or homemade. If using a larger quantity of pesto, adjust the amount accordingly.
- 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes: About 15-20 tomatoes, halved to fit on the toast.
- Fresh basil leaves: A handful, torn into small pieces for garnish and flavor.
Equipment:
- Homtone pizza oven with toast function.
- Baking sheet or enameled baking tray.
- Tongs or oven mitts for handling hot trays.
- Serving plate.
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
Halve the Tomatoes: Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half.
Prepare the Basil: Wash the basil leaves and tear them into small pieces.
Step 2: Assemble the Toast
Spread Pesto: On each slice of baguette, spread a generous layer of pesto, covering the surface evenly.
Top with Tomatoes: Arrange the halved cherry tomatoes on top of the pesto.
Garnish with Basil: Sprinkle the torn basil leaves over the tomatoes.
Step 3: Toast the Bread
Place in Oven: Place the assembled toasts on your baking sheet or enameled baking tray.
Set the Oven: Set your oven to the TOAST function at 375°F (190°C).
Toast: Put the tray in the oven and toast for 8-10 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy. The tomatoes should be slightly roasted and the pesto warmed through.
Step 4: Check and Serve
Check for Doneness: After 8-10 minutes, check the toast for a golden brown color and a crispy texture.
Serve: Remove the toast from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Then, transfer the pesto toast with cherry tomatoes to a serving plate.
Tips for Pesto Toast with Cherry Tomatoes:
- Pesto Consistency: Use a pesto with a good consistency so it spreads easily on the bread.
- Tomato Halves: Halving the tomatoes ensures they fit well on the toast and roast evenly.
- Basil Freshness: Use fresh basil for the best flavor. It adds a fresh, aromatic note to the toast.
- Oven Temperature: Keep an eye on the toast to ensure it doesn't burn. You may need to adjust the time slightly depending on your oven.
