Ingredients:
- 4 slices of baguette: Choose fresh, crusty baguette for the best texture.
- 1 cup fresh mozzarella: Sliced into thin rounds.
- 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes: About 15-20 tomatoes, halved.
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves: Torn into small pieces.
- Balsamic glaze: Store-bought or homemade, for drizzling.
Equipment:
- Homtone pizza oven with toast function.
- Baking sheet or enameled baking tray.
- Tongs or oven mitts for handling hot trays.
- Serving plate.
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
Slice Mozzarella: Cut the fresh mozzarella into thin slices.
Halve Tomatoes: Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half.
Tear Basil: Wash the basil leaves and tear them into small pieces.
Step 2: Assemble the Toast
Place Bread Slices: Lay out the baguette slices on your baking sheet or enameled baking tray.
Layer Mozzarella: Arrange a layer of mozzarella slices on each piece of bread.
Top with Tomatoes: Place the halved cherry tomatoes on top of the mozzarella.
Garnish with Basil: Sprinkle the torn basil leaves over the tomatoes.
Step 3: Toast the Bread
Place in Oven: Put the baking sheet with the assembled toasts into the preheated oven.
Set: Set your oven to the TOAST function at 375°F (190°C). This temperature will ensure the bread is toasted without burning.
Toast: Toast the bread for 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is melted and slightly browned. Keep an eye on the toast to prevent burning.
Step 4: Drizzle with Balsamic Glaze
Remove from Oven: Carefully remove the tray from the oven.
Drizzle Balsamic Glaze: Using a spoon or a squeeze bottle, drizzle the balsamic glaze over the toasts in a zigzag pattern or circle for an attractive presentation.
Step 5: Serve
Serve Immediately: Transfer the Caprese toasts to a serving plate and serve immediately while the cheese is still warm and melty.
Tips for Caprese Toast with Balsamic Reduction:
- Bread Selection: Baguette works well for this recipe due to its crusty texture, but you can use any type of bread you prefer.
- Cheese Layering: Layer the mozzarella slices evenly to ensure each bite has a good amount of cheese.
- Tomato Halving: Halving the tomatoes ensures they fit well on the toast and roast evenly.
- Basil Freshness: Use fresh basil for the best flavor. It adds a fresh, aromatic note to the toast.
- Balsamic Glaze: If you don't have balsamic glaze, you can make it by reducing balsamic vinegar with a bit of sugar until it thickens and becomes syrupy.
