  • 1 cup (200g) sugar: Granulated sugar for sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour: For the cake's base.
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) baking powder: Helps the cake rise and become tender.
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25g) salt: Enhances the flavor without making it salty.
  • 1 large egg: At room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) milk: Whole milk or any milk you prefer.
  • 1/2 cup (100g) chocolate chips: Semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips for chunks of chocolate.

Equipment:

  • Homtone pizza oven with bake function.
  • Mixing bowls.
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Electric mixer or whisk.
  • 8x8-inch square baking pan, greased or lined with parchment paper.
  • Tongs or oven mitts for handling hot trays.
  • Serving plate or cake server.

Instructions:

Step 1: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients

  1. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until smooth.

Step 3: Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

  1. Add Wet to Dry: Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, which can lead to a tough cake.

Step 4: Fold in Chocolate Chips

  1. Fold in Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula or wooden spoon.

Step 5: Prepare the Baking Pan

  1. Prepare Pan: Lightly grease an 8x8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

Step 6: Pour and Bake the Batter

  1. Pour Batter: Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  2. Bake: Set your oven to the bake function at 375°F (190°C). This temperature will ensure even baking and a nice crust. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

Step 7: Cool and Serve

  1. Cool: Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes.
  2. Transfer to a Wire Rack: After 10-15 minutes, transfer the cake to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Serve: Once cooled, slice the cake and serve as desired. You can also top with whipped cream or ice cream for extra indulgence.
