Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas: About 1.5 cups when mashed.
  • 1 cup (200g) sugar: For sweetness.
  • 2 large eggs: At room temperature.
  • 1.5 cups (180g) all-purpose flour: Unbleached, for a tender crumb.
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) baking soda: For leavening the bread.
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5g) salt: To balance the sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) milk: Whole, almond, or any milk you prefer.

Equipment:

  • Homtone pizza oven with bake function.
  • Mixing bowls.
  • Measuring cups and spoons.
  • Electric mixer or whisk.
  • 9x5-inch loaf pan, greased or lined with parchment paper.
  • Tongs or oven mitts for handling hot trays.
  • Serving plate or slices.

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Banana Mixture

  1. Mash Bananas: Peel the bananas and mash them with a fork until smooth.
  2. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas, sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract (if using).

Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients

  1. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well mixed.

Step 3: Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures

  1. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix to avoid tough gluten development.

Step 4: Pour into Loaf Pan

  1. Prepare Pan: Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Pour Batter: Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Step 5: Bake the Bread

  1. Bake: Set your oven to the bake function at 350°F (175°C). This temperature will ensure even baking and a moist crumb. Place the pan in the oven and bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  2. Check Doneness: Start checking for doneness after 50 minutes. The exact baking time may vary depending on your oven.

Step 6: Cool and Serve

  1. Cool: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. Slice and Serve: Once cooled, slice the bread and serve as desired.

Tips for Basic Banana Bread:

  • Banana Selection: Choose ripe bananas with brown spots for the best flavor.
  • Batter Consistency: The batter should be thick but pourable.
  • Baking Time: Keep an eye on the bread as it bakes to prevent overbaking. The exact time may vary slightly based on your oven.
  • Storage: Store the bread in an a sealed container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
