Product: Homtone Soup Maker 2L, 6-in-1 Multifunctional Smooth and Chunky Soupma
Nothing ruins soup night like a machine that suddenly refuses to cooperate. The good news? 90 % of “problems” can be solved in seconds without tools or a service call. Below are the most common hiccups we see with the soup maker and the exact steps the manual (and our own kitchen tests) recommend to get you back to blending bliss.
Soup Maker Troubleshooting Guide – Fix the Most Common Issues Fast
1. The Unit Will Not Start
Symptoms: No lights, no beeps, no motor hum.
Quick Fix Checklist
• Is the plug firmly in a live socket? Try another appliance in the same outlet to be sure.
• Check the power cable: if it’s pinched, frayed, or melted near the plug, stop using the machine and order a replacement cable from the manufacturer—do NOT use a generic cord.
• Overfill detector triggered? Remove the lid and make sure ingredients are between the MIN and MAX lines. Re-seat the lid until you hear a click.
2. Icons Flash but Nothing Happens After Pressing START/STOP
What’s going on: The appliance is in “stand-by” because the last cycle was interrupted.
Solution:
1.Press and hold START/STOP for 3 seconds. All icons will stop flashing.
2.Press MODE to re-select SMOOTH, CHUNKY, BLEND, or CLEAN.
3.Press START/STOP again—the cycle should begin immediately.
3. Soup Is Too Thin / Too Chunky
• Too thin: You used more than the 2 : 3 food-to-water ratio recommended (max 640 ml food). Next batch, reduce liquid or add extra solids before starting the cycle.
• Too chunky: You selected CHUNKY but want smoother results. Run an extra MANUAL BLEND cycle (max 2 minutes) after the heat cycle ends; just make sure soup has cooled slightly to prevent spurting.
4. Burning Smell or Scorched Bottom
Typical causes:
• Food was diced larger than 2 cm cubes. Large pieces sit on the heating element and burn.
• Not enough liquid; the sensor may have triggered early.
Immediate rescue:
1.Unplug and let the jug cool.
2.Fill with hot soapy water and soak 15 minutes.
3.Use a non-scratch scrub pad to lift the residue; never metal scourers.
Prevention: Dice evenly and keep the 2 : 3 ratio. If you like thicker soups, start with the minimum liquid line rather than below it.
5. Leaking From the Lid During Cooking
Reasons & fixes:
• Lid not locked—rotate until you feel it click.
• Sudden steaming caused hot liquid to spurt. Next time, make sure the lid vent is clean and don’t exceed the MAX line.
• Blade seal worn (rare). If the silicone ring is cracked or loose, contact customer service for a replacement seal.
6. Cycle Finishes but Soup Is Lukewarm
Likely culprit:
You opened the lid too soon. The manual states the machine beeps for 60 seconds then auto-shuts off. If you lift the lid before the beep ends, heat escapes and the sensor cuts power early.
Solution:
Let the unit complete its full beep sequence; the jug will stay hot for serving.
7. Blades Won’t Spin in BLEND Mode
Checklist:
• Ice cubes or frozen fruit were added—against instructions. Remove them and thaw ingredients first.
• Jug overfilled. Remove some contents and try again.
• Blade obstruction. Unplug, remove lid, and use a spatula to dislodge any wedged food.
8. Excessive Vibration or “Walking” on the Counter
• Surface is uneven or sloped (per manual, always use on a flat, stable surface).
• Too little food for the blade to grab. Add more ingredients or reduce the liquid slightly so the blade can create a vortex.
If you’ve run the above checks and the unit still:
• Trips the household breaker,
• Emits sparks from the base, or
• Displays no lights even with a verified live socket,
then it’s time to contact the manufacturer or an authorised service agent—do not attempt internal repairs yourself.
